In 2006, Mark Forster, general manager of Goodwin Systems, attended a Microsoft Partners workshop. His search brought him to Hypercom's Smart Payments Client, with its expanded range of credit card processors. His POS product, The Perfect Partner (PTR), had indeed found its perfect partner.
Goodwin Systems developed their interface and received approval from the Oregon State Treasury as a Financial Transaction Vendor. They completed their first client install in August of 2006, meeting the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) standards. Adopting the Hypercom L4250 complimented both the merchant's requirement for a PA-DSS payment terminal, and the PTR solution.
Having developed the state's expertise, Mark Forster led the charge with a consortium of Oregon POS developers, offering and receiving help when needed.
"We were a reference point in a cooperative venture," says Forster. "Some of us even shared demo equipment to get up to speed."
Eventually, 4 additional Oregon liquor-store vertical providers have become Easy Retail™ suppliers. All have received approval from the OLCC.
